Ham & Cheese Scones

These delicious ham and cheese scones go great with fresh fruit, coffee and juice for a quick breakfast or serve with a green salad for a light lunch.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 T. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3 T. chilled butter, cut into small pieces
- 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup ham, diced small
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 2 large egg whites
Directions
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
Cut butter into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Stir in cheese and ham.
Combine buttermilk and egg whites and whisk together.
Add to dry ingredients, stirring until just moist.
Turn dough onto floured surface and knead lightly.
Pat dough into an 8” circle on baking sheet.
Cut into 8 wedges, leaving in circle.
