Pecan Praline French Toast

This is memorable French Toast. It has a lovely crispy exterior and true Southern Charm.

Ingredients

  • In blender blend:
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cup Krustease baking mix (or bisquick)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 loaves French or sourdough bread

Directions

  1. Cook on stove top until golden brown on both sides.

  2. Blend and refrigerate over night.

  3. Cut your favorite loaf of bread in slices about 1 " thick.

  4. 1 hr. before serving dip the bread slices into the batter to coat each side.

  5. I dip then stand them back to form the loaf shape again. (Do not soak in the batter).

  6. Let stand approx.. 30 minutes.

  7. Praline mix: 1 1/2 cups crushed corn flakes 1 cup brown sugar

  8. 1 cup finely chopped pecans

  9. Mix together place in a wide pie plate.

  10. Dip each side of battered bread in praline mixture. Brown French toast in skillet or on hot griddle with melted margarine until golden brown.

  11. Serve with favorite syrup.

  12. I use maple and flavor it with orange zest.

  13. Note: Left over praline mix can be stored air tight for later use.

  14. Serves 8 very quickly.
