Stoltz House Sunday Morning Surprise
Ingredients
- 2 C. soft bread crumbs, without crusts
- 1 3/4 C. whole milk
- 8 eggs, lightly beaten
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. black pepper
- 2 T. butter
- 1/4 tsp. seasoning salt
- 8 oz. Swiss cheese, sliced
- 2 T. butter, melted
- 1/2 C. dry bread crumbs
- 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
Directions
Bake at 325 degrees for 35 minutes.
Combine soft bread crumbs and milk and soak for 5 minutes.
Drain and reserve milk and bread.
Combine reserved milk with eggs, salt, and pepper.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Add egg mixture and scramble until soft but not fully cooked.
Add soaked bread and pour into a 9-inch square or round baking dish.
Sprinkle with seasoning salt.
Arrange cheese slices on top.
Combine melted butter and dry bread crumbs and sprinkle over cheese.
Top with bacon.
Chill overnight; bake uncovered. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
