Aberdeen

Aberdeen is called the 'Gateway to the Olympic Peninsula' and 'Gateway to the Beaches.' This historical port town, has always been the hub of Grays Harbor County. There are many quaint shops, restaurants, nature walking trails, boating, kayaking, fishing, golfing, birding, and a 12-screen movie theater. The Lady Washington tall ship is often in town and gives tours. Aberdeen Museum is on Third Street and has lots of history found inside it's doors. There is artwork throughout the down town area and Hall of Fame bronze stars are found on the sidewalks with names of local natives that made history. This lumber town has a wonderful Historic Homes area with many homes built by lumber barons. You can pick up the Broadway Hill Historic Homes walking tour from the Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce and from A Harbor View Inn. It is self guided with information on 51 homes. It is a quiet and relaxing town. Spend the day at the beach or head up to Lake Quinault in the Olympic National Park. This town is where the small town meets nature.
